I have an ibook g3 600 mhz with dual usb. I recently switched the 18gb to a 60gb hard drive. After I reassembled the ibook and transfered the old drive info over to the new internal drive, i noticed that my display dims but doesn't go black when I push back on it. If i push back or wiggle the screen it dims. I have tightened all the screws and connections I can find. Can anyone give me some help?

followed directions to a tee. went back and double checked. I am guessing it is something I did, but I don't know what. Can you be more specific about where to look?

You sure its not set to auto dim in system prefs?
Under energy saver / options.

Otherwise i'd second the loose backlight idea.

ibook screen dims randomly when moved

My ibook 500mhz screen has begun randomly dimming when if there is even the slightest movement. sometimes it does it sometimes not but its to the point where its become annoying. any suggestions??? i dont want to replace it just bc of that!

Looking, I have found that this might be related to a reed switch and inverter cable problem. I don't think it is just a loose light, as the problem occurrs with only specific movement, i.e., opening the lid to far.

motion is not the problem as long as it isn't doesn't change the angle of the screen to the rest of the machine.

Purchased new cable at smalldog.com for $20.00. Plan to disassemble and replace the old cable.

Anyone have suggestions for how to do this?
