Upgraded on day of release a week ago. Flickers every five seconds or so, intermittent issue after waking from sleep.

Happening on both our late 2010 Airs. Restart fixes it for that session.

Anyone else noticed this? Any ideas please?

Yes, I just noticed the exact same problem today. It is awful. I posted on the Apple community support forum in the (probably vain) hope of getting help there.

Love my MBA for 2.5 years, thought about upgrading in a few months, now very seriously reconsidering. It is almost unusable.

Yes - it looks like others are experiencing similar (though not identical) issues with graphics after the 10.8.3 update.

I think we can hold fire a bit until it's acknowledged, and perhaps a fix proposed.

Elsewhere on this forum someone has suggested resetting SMC and PRAM before trying a combo update.

As neither of our machines has shown a recurrence (yet) I'm reluctant to jump through hoops until necessary!

If your issue is really bad, however, i'd consider a visit to the Apple Store, if you're lucky enough to have one nearby.

Glad I am not alone. Well, I don't wish others to suffer, but at least with some weight, there is a chance Apple will do something about it.

I'm also reluctant to jump through those hoops. Still, for a company with so few hardware models (compared to what Linux or MS need to go through), this issue is *really* sloppy work on Apple's part. Sigh.

Temporary Fix: Close screen for 10 seconds...

I have the same problem with my MBA 13 2010.

I tried reinstalling Mountain Lion but to no avail.

I googled a bit and a very similar problem occurred a couple of years ago that was later fixed with a software update. I also found out that closing the lid for 10 seconds forces a power cycle of the device display and should stop the flickering. It's still annoying but it's marginally faster than a reboot.

I guess we'll just have to wait for a fix to come out eventually from Apple.

Thanks - I'll try that next time :)

The problem seems to come and go. Everything was working fine yesterday but when I opened the lid this morning, it was flickering again :(

Bizarre.

There's nothing about it yet anywhere that I could find from the Internet so I'm not sure if Apple is even aware of the problem and working on a fix.

I wish. With me, it appears to be getting worse. The only saving grace is that "10-second quick sleep cover reset" which is annoying but survivable.

I opened on the Apple forum, no real answer yet.

"Same problem here, started after the most recent O/S upgrade.

Video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaGOKuwqsaw"

Yes, that's exactly what I'm experiencing since the upgrade, Macbook Air, late 2010. It happens when I re-open after closing it to sleep. A restart corrects it.

Hi
I'm having exactly the same problem with my MBA from 2010. Happens after upgrading to 10.8.3 and entering in sleep mode.
Weird..

Over here
Just wondering, did you all to an update/combo update or a complete clean reinstall of the new OS ? Just trying to eliminate all possibilities....;)

I think this works

I called AppleCare about this issue and they are pretty much clueless for the time being. They suggested reinstalling OSX 10.8 up to 10.8.2 without applying 10.8.3 to be sure this was a 10.8.3 issue. Since I wasn't too excited about the idea of a full reinstall, they also suggested resetting the the SMC, the NVRAM and reapplying a full combo update. So far after a 3 hours standby the problem seems to be fixed. Then again I'm not sure 3 hours is long enough to declare this "resolved" but I thought I'd share this possible fix.

FYI :

1) To reset the SMC:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964

2) To reset the NVRAM
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379

3) To DL the 10.8.3 combo
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1640

I have tested this on an 11" MBA late 2010

Thanks for this - I await your results after a few days' use with bated breath :)

It does seem as though Apple might not yet be aware that this really is a 10.8.3 issue - the fact that both our 11" Airs at home started with it just after update, plus the others who've posted here having the same cannot be pure coincidence.

I have tried to just reset the NVRAM. It's sounds to me to be the most likely solution. We'll see how it goes. It would be cool if someone else could test just one of the three suggested solutions so we could figure out which actually helped.

That didn't work. Gonna try another one of the suggested solutions today.
