When I try to stream a service like Peacock or Hulu, Netflix the screen is black yet I hear the audio.
It doesn't do this for YouTube videos.

Doesn't matter if I play through Firefox or Safari (blockers off, by the way)

Any idea what's going on here?

I have a Mac Mini M1. HDMI into a Samsung LED monitor.

That's usually a dhcp failure, so I'd check the cable. I've seen a reboot sometimes fix the problem.

What make and model of display? See if there's a monitor firmware update as they sometimes include HDCP fixes.

I swapped the cable out. Problem persists.

Samsung LS24B300EL/ZA. I have a dual monitor setup though. I moved the browser over to the other monitor (Lenovo) and the problem remains on that monitor.

I have a Mac Mini M1. HDMI into a Samsung LED monitor.
That's your reason.
As I immediately learned 40 seconds after unpacking my new Mac Studio in April, some monitors (including mine) do not like being connected to an M-series Mac computer HDMI->HDMI.
I ended up borrowing* an aftermarket dock from work which offered a display-port connection.
No issues since.

*thankfully they've now forgotten it was lent out to me.

I moved the HDMI out of the back of the Mac Mini and into the Sabrent Displaylink I use for the other monitor.
Didn't help.

That Samsung monitor is from 2012 and shows only DVI and VGA inputs. If you're using a HDCP compliant DVI to HDMI cable (VGA doesn't work with HDCP) and it's not working then the monitor is likely too old to support HDCP 2.2. Around 2013 was the transition from HDCP 2.1 to 2.2 so if your monitor is prior to that then it might not work.

But it's (peacock) not working on the other monitor (Lenovo) which is connected via DVI into the Sabrent Displaylink.

i've got a hdcp compliant monitor and a non-hdcp compliant monitor hooked up to my mac studio.
HDCP protected streaming won't play on either monitor when both are hooked up.
if the non-hdcp monitor is disconnected, HDCP protected streaming works on the HDCP compliant monitor.

(fwiw, netflix works in my dual monitor setup, but HBO Max does not until the non-HDCP monitor is disconnected)

So I need an hdcp compliant monitor it sounds like? Is there a cable or device to convert a monitor into a compliant one? Would like to avoid buying new monitors if I can.

if you have a relatively recent HDTV, that may be HDCP compliant enough (until you get a real monitor)

If I can chime in? You are having the same problem I am having, I think. I have a Mac Book Pro - Ventura. I have disconnected from my external monitors and the problem persists. I don't think it has anything to do with the monitors. Any other suggestions? It seems to have stared with Ventura upgrade. OP, is that when yours started?

No. I haven't upgraded to Ventura yet. This is all on Monterey (12.6.1)

I noticed that if I plug the HDMI output of the Mac Mini to either monitor the issue is gone. However, when plugging Mini HDMI output to one monitor and the Sabrent Displaylink HDMI output to the other monitor, the problem returns.
Is it an HDCP issue with the Displaylink?
