Hi,

Don't know if anybody else experiences this, but I get the screen like the image below about 2 out of 10 times every time I open my iMac.

any thoughts?

And with "open up" you mean "power on / boot up" I guess? Or is it waking from sleep?

I assume you still have warranty or Apple Care?

Thanks for the reply guys, I have already reset the PRAM and it didn't work.

I ran disk utility as advised by someone from apple support and it found errors in the disk. I'll see if running it from the installation disk will fix it. Would I lose data if I do that?

I still have warranty though.

No, data will not be lost by scanning the HDD for errors via the Restore DVD.
But as soon as you can, make a backup of your important files.
If you have another Mac with Firewire: Target Disk Mode.

Thanks man. I forgot to answer your question earlier.

This happens when the mac boots up. Not from waking up from sleep.

Hi Patchel

Just wondering if you managed to get this sorted? I have the same issues since the last 12 months but never bothered too much until recently when the system started to freeze etc.

Cheers
