Everything was fine. I set it down and came back, turned it on, and it is now locked up. I turned it off and on several times, with no help. What is happening here, please?

I'd suggest a hard reset (holding down power button and home button till the device blacks out and the Apple logo reappears for startup) but that might not help seeing as you've already turned it off/on several times.

I say plug it into your computer and give it a quick restore of the Firmware.

Thanks! Searched youtube on desktop and got the possible answer, and you confirmed it! So its working again, wbew; THAT momentarily sucked! Thanks again
