I have a brand new Mac Mini, arrived October 10, 2013. I also have a NEC MultiSync LCD2490WUXi display connected via the HDMI to DVI adapter. Version 10.8.5 is installed with software updates just run.

Booting up, or coming out of sleep, the screen looks normal for about 2 seconds. Then the screen goes black (no video signal) for about 2 seconds. Then the screen is displayed normally. After this, the computer runs with no problems.

I have contacted Apple Support but they do not know the cause of this screen blanking. Nor do they think this is something to worry about.

Has anyone else experienced this momentary screen blanking? And does anyone know the cause?

Yes my late 2012 mini connected to a new AOC monitor via HDMI-HDMI also does this, and all I sleep is the display, my mini is on 24/7 as it is my TV + video recorder.
Nothing to worry about, system is flawless once all is up and running.

It is my Monitor!

The monitor did not do this with my Mac Pro... so this is a surprise.

The Mini works fine with another monitor.

I guess it's the HDMI to DVI thing. You didn't use that on the Mac Pro, did you?
