I have a Macbook Air that is about 2 years old. Recently, the backlight started to go off randomly, it always lasts for less than a second and then is back to normal. Is this a sign that there is some sort of problem, or should I not be worried?

My old MBP does that too. I've always assumed it's a software issue, like its starting to dim the display then changes it's mind. But I've wondered if it's a potential hardware problem. I haven't noticed my MBA doing that.

It does seem to do it more often when it is close to going to sleep, but it does it at other times as well. I'm assuming it didn't turn into a bigger problem on your MBP?

Hasn't so far. Happened only rarely. I'm selling the MBP now that I bought a new MBA.
