Here, there and over there
A screen problem. 14” M3 MacBook Pro base model. Coincidentally, I’d just updated macOS to 15.3.1 shortly before it started. Anyone seen this? I have an appointment at the local Apple Store tomorrow.

I wonder if it is the old humidity condensing on the metal of the body issue. It causes glitching like that

I was reading that some folks in India had to start using their MacBooks as desktops because the humidity in their air was more than the metal bodied case could handle and condensation was unavoidable. So they just kept them at home where they could manage the humidity enough to keep them functional. Kinda sad.

Can this be "reproduced on demand"?
(you can cause it to happen when you want)

If so, take it to a brick n mortar Apple Store and show them...

Good point. I’m hoping it glitches at the store when the Apple Genius looks at it.
Tech says: the aluminum surround has some scratches and slight bumps. He thinks that is what caused the trouble.

Update: they took it. 4-5 days is the turnaround timeframe unless they expedite it.

FWIW, I got the Macbook Pro back from Apple. $757 repair to replace the screen and the lid angle sensor. Cost to me, for this was nothing, but of course AppleCare+ cost is $99/yr. On the way out, I placed the 14" next to the 13" Macbook Air. Maybe a lighter and therefore less likely to be damaged when bumped machine?
