Screen problem - flashing

Hi all, I have a problem with my iMac 24" and I wonder if anyone heard about that.

sometimes my screen has kind of flashes (it is seems like someone play with the brightness buttons). I googled "iMac screen problems" and I found that many people have other screen problem (a permanent gray corners on the top), this is not the problem that I have.

so if someone know something... it will be great to hear/get feedback !

The only thing I can think of is that the LCD screen is going... My SONY screen I used as a computer screen for my ibook did that.

It could also be a backlight problem

Does it always do it? Does it do it when you've been using the computer for ages?

about your questions. sometimes it is happen after 5 mins that I turn on the computer, and sometimes it is happen after 6 hours - so there is no "rule" about that. In general the computer is quite new, 10 months...

in case of "backlight" problem, what is the solution ?

I had a problem similar to what you describe on my mid-2007 24" iMac. When I first powered up the display was fine but after 5 minutes (usually, sometimes it was earlier or later) or so it would start flickering between brightness levels.

It turned out to be a bad inverter but Apple replaced the whole LCD panel. If your iMac is 10 months old you still have 2 months of the limited warranty left. Send it in to Apple. You definitely don't want to wait until your coverage is gone because that LCD panel is the single most expensive component in your machine.

Glad to hear that. I'm sure they'll fix it right up for you. They may replace the entire LCD or just the inverter if that's what it turns out to be.

By the way, do you have Applecare? I recommend it highly and I know you mentioned you've had the iMac for 10 months. If so you have 2 months left.
