I dread going into apple for repairs, I haven't yet got a positive experience.

My mbp 17" is experiencing an increasingly worst uneven lighting problem towards the bottom 1/5th of the screen. It is getting brighter and brighter over time. Originaily, it was alright. But now It has gotten to a point I don't use the bottom part for any graphic/color important related work. I tried moving the screen angle, if the bottom part is reasonable, the top part becomes too dark.

If I bring it in for repairs, how long can I expect the repairs to be if they would even do a repair? Would pro care help to speed things up these days? (I had pro care before and it did nothing).

Yes, it sounds like more than good reason to bring it in. I sent my macbook in because of some bad px. a few weeks ago. I sent it on a Tuesday and it was back and repaired by Thursday morning... So it shouldn't take too long.
