I am looking to add the iPad to my photo editing likely through sidecar or Luna Display. I am hoping there are some artists or photo editors that could give me advice based on experience as to which screen "protector" would best serve. I know there is a trade-off for sharpness and colour accuracy vs a toothy surface for the stylus. Anyone?

I use Ambison matte glass screen protectors. They aren’t quite as toothy as the plastic ones but they don’t get marks from the pencil, either. They also greatly reduce glare and fingerprints without the sparkle effect of matte plastic. They do change the sharpness a bit, but I think of it more as a “velvet” look.

I love paperlike - I’m a photographer. I use my iPad for the masking and object removal process in my workflow - so any minor impact on sharpness isn’t really a problem. The screen protector turns the use of a pencil on the iPad from a slightly grating/squeaky and slippery process into something more like a pencil on paper. Not only that but it improves the entire iPad experience with regards to touching it.

This is going to be individual preference. Likely you’ll have to test a few options before finding one you’re happiest with.

I personally hated having the Paperlike (and similar screen protectors) on the iPad. I found they made the screen look grainy. But I can’t deny they produce a superior Apple Pencil experience.

Nevertheless, I opted for a conventional screen protector in the end. I do more than drawing on my iPad, hence my decision. The issue here is that if I draw a pencil stroke very slowly there is occasional jitter. I counter this by doing fast strokes or using the stabiliser option in Affinity apps. The trade off was worth it for my use case.

I use a matte screen protector from Gadgetshieldz as I don't like the reflection on my iPad when editing my images! This protector is smooth to use, the screen looks sharp and I can edit easily!
