Screen Protectors for 1G and 2G

My son has an old 1G iPod touch and we recently got a 2G for my daughter (no more fighting!). I would like to know if I can get away with buying the power support 2 pack for the 1G and using the second protector on the 2G touch? I understand the 2G's screen may be a bit wider, I have not been able to find any specifics on the glass size differences between the two models. Thanks!

I use a 1G protector on my 2G

no problem. The entire functional screen of a 2G iPod is covered with the 1G cover. I aligned the screen protector with the button, and it left a thin strip of uncovered glass all the way around, but none of it is display glass.

Thanks, since it's for my kids, I'm not as picky on the fit, as long as most of the screen is protected. It also saves me from buying two different versions. But I wonder if it's better buying the 2G protectors, and trimming it down for the 1G? Thanks again.
