Hello all- I fell victim to Flexgate on my 2017, 13” MBP. While battling Apple to replace under warranty I purchased a 2021, 13” (may be 14”) MBP w/display bar. Did not want the display bar, but I settled with it.
I was doing work last night and out of no where the screen went blank on the 2021 model. I tried to restart a couple times and it would immediately turn black with green/blue lines (pic attached). At one point Panic Medic Boot popped up with the third party kernel extension message, then back to black screen. I then received a pop up about the OS needing to be reinstalled.
I tried all the resets and general troubleshooting. After an hour I was able to get it to boot in recovery mode and did the OS reinstall. After about a half hour that installed, I immediately plugged In the external and started Time Machine. After about two minutes, right back into the black green/blue screen. I left the backup plugged in. When I checked it this morning on another computer it “says” there is a time machine backup from 12/26. I am praying that’s the case. My luck it is probably corrupted.
Apple had me take it to an authorized dealer and the initial assessment was a “display screen.” However, we won’t know until the diagnostics are run.
Questions…does this look like it would be a display screen with those previous kernel warnings and all? And if so, what’s the deal with this bs? I’ve lost 2 computers to these display issues? One being a 2021 model…
Thanks!
