Screen Recorder to Gif

What's the best app to record my screen and get a gif file?

I'm using Camtasia and ScreenFlow but I couldn't see any option with these apps. I saw some apps to make it possible but not sure which one is the best.

Are you sure you want a gif? It compresses poorly, taking up more space than a mp4 video. Many websites have transitioned from gif to mp4 because the smaller file size loads much faster.

A quick search found http://www.cockos.com/licecap/. You can then use https://imageoptim.com to compress the gif.
