Screen resolution on external monitor

Currently running OS X Yosemite GM Candidate 2 on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) and using an external ASUS VW266H 25.5" (1920x1200, HDMI cable), I'm experiencing an issue were the screen doesn't actually completely stretch to fill up all the available space. You'll notice a black bevel in the pictures.

Try it plugging into a thunderbolt port. For some monitors, I've seen that issue with hdmi

it looks like the typical overscan / underscan issue with HDMI. HDMI is traditionally used to output video, which typically has a 5-10% overscan. it looks like the monitor is compensating for this and reducing the screen size so it would fit on a normal TV. The monitor should have a setting to override this behaviour in its setup menu so that you get full 1:1 pixel mapping.

What I don't understand is why it started happening after I upgraded to Yosemite. I'm gonna try a thunderbolt connector I bought a few days ago.

There should be a display setting to alter.
