Was I the only one who thought the screen was all scratched when you first turned the thing on and then realized it was the shooting stars of the stock wallpaper?

(I did a search and couldn't find it)

Some others thought the same.

I opened mine and saw marks on the plastic wrapper that looked pretty bad and thought, "Oh crap!" All is well though.

I though the same and so did many others with the WiFi units. Our 3G units have the same wallpaper

I remember seeing those at the apple store when I was demoing and thought people had scratched the **** out of them and the screen sucked. When I got mine, I was relieved to know a screen protector was not as mandatory as I first thought.

I think I remember seeing a discussion about Apple paying good money for that wallpaper. I don't know, maybe its me, but I can think of 10,000 better pictures (and not necessarily of the Apple Bikini Chick) that would have showcased the iPad screen a LOT better.

When we got the wi-fi version my wife was sure the screen was scratched. It wasn't until I changed the wallpaper that we were both sure it wasn't scratched.

I knew about the "scratches" on the home page screen but my heart still skipped a beat for a second when I opened the box. I had to laugh at myself. My first thought was: what moron chose this wallpaper? Didn't they know that people would freak? I think they did it on purpose just to have a bit of fun. :D

Jobs loves freaking people out. This "late April" launch was a good example.
:D
