Using 14.0 23A344 on a 2022 Mac Studio as a host to M1 iMac screen. Previously worked fine in Ventura.

This bug is 100% repeatable. Immediately or shortly after connecting to another Mac, the mouse/trackpad and keyboard of the host machine disappear and are unusable. Occasionally, you can move the cursor to the dock area and close out the Screen Share app which restores functionality.

Otherwise, they keyboard doesn't register any inputs, and no cursor is seen or actionable. Not even directly plugging in the keyboard/trackpad and/or a power cycle of them will restore their functionality. This requires a force reboot of the host machine. Probably did this 10x today. Until this is fixed, Screen Share is essentially unusable.

I have the same issue between an M1 MB Pro to an M1 Mac Studio. It seems to be dependent on universal control. After disabling universal control it was working for me. Instead of a reboot pressing ESC on the remote computer to disconnect screen sharing in case of disappearing mouse/keyboard was restoring functionality.

I appreciate the tip. However, I don't have a keyboard/mouse hooked up with the remote iMac at all. So no Escape to press :(

I will say, Universal Control on Sonoma generally works better. It's faster to move the pointer between screens upon wake-up.

Add me to the list of people experiencing this bug as well.

The new Screen Sharing is really great when it works and it's a huge step up from what we had in previous versions of macOS, so I love it. But this missing control cursor bug is driving me insane and makes it unreliable to use. In a couple of instances, the remote machine actually announces (synthesized voice through the speaker) that it is being controlled remotely!

I guess we'll have to wait for Sonoma 14.1 for a fix 😞
