I'm having a peculiar screen sharing problem. At home I have a mac mini as a media centre connected to the TV, and if I want to fiddle with it, I usually connect to it via screen sharing on my main computer, a new-ish 27" iMac. Recently (last couple of months, no more), the iMac (running 10.6.7) won't connect. It hangs on the "Connecting to [name of mini]" window, which eventually goes away, and the screen sharing app is running in the dock, but no actual screen appears. Previous posts on here have suggested quiting the NetAuthAgent and AppleVNCServer, but neither of these helps for me. What is odd is if I get my old MacBook out (I never upgraded it from 10.5.8), it will run screen share without a problem (the iMac will also not connect to the MacBook to screen share either, but the MacBook will connect to the iMac). Anybody have any thoughts?

So I think I've figured it out (though it seems a bit bizarre). My Internet connection has been a bit flaky (guy came round and fixed it today) and it appears that if I try to screen share from 10.6.7 it won't connect if the Internet is not connected, but 10.5.8 works fine without. No idea why that should matter, but I thought I'd share it incase anybody else hits the same problem.

Thanks for posting this... back in April, I had intermittent problems connecting to my Mac Mini server and had the phone company come and change some corroded wiring, which fixed both the audible noise during telephone conversations and greatly improved the reliability of my DSL connection. But I never thought that the DSL issues were the cause of the Screen Sharing problem!
