I've scanned a ton of old photos on my iMac running Mojave; the scanned pictures are all stored locally.

A large portion of these pictures predate me by quite a bit, so my mother is helping me ID the people. I'd given her an old iMac of mine--she doesn't actually use computers, so it's mainly something I can use on her behalf--and it can't be updated past High Sierra.

To bypass the library problems (the older iMac can't open the Mojave Photos library) I use Screen Sharing on the older iMac to work directly on the Photos on my iMac.

This mostly works just fine, except that if I need to add a face ID (Window>Info then the "+" sign to add the person, if Photos hasn't identified a person on its own) I can't move the circle over to the person's face--trying to drag it over drags the picture instead (i.e., starting a drag-and-drop of the picture, not a scroll). No matter where I try to grab the circle I can't move it rather than the picture; even trying to resize it with that dot on its right does not work.

Is there a workaround for this?
