Screen Splitting Whilst Gaming

Hey got a Core 2 Duo imac, when i play games such as Halo i get a lot of screen splitting even though i have it set on VSYNC, also a lot on the sims 2 when moving the camera left or right slowly. is this normal, also does anyone know the refresh rate for the imac displays (20") ?

the refresh rate (i think) is 16 ms. about the screen splitting, i wouldn't know how to help u. my imac doesn't do that when i play CS:S

60hz on the 24". I imagine it's the same for the 20".

What game is that, also i meant to say horizontal 'tearing' incase there was any confusion

i was playing Rayman 3 Today, and the horizontal splitting is pretty bad, is there something wrong with my machine, or a dodgy display, are all LCDs displays like this when gaming, this is disappointing seeing though it has a Radeon X1600, and my old card in my powermac was a Radeon 9000 and i can't enjoy gorgeous graphics with horizontal tearing, also my LCD iBook display didn't do this, why when the imac display is better
