I've noticed over the past few weeks how broken screen time has become. It randomly shows apps running for 6-7 hours a day constantly when I never opened them. It randomly listed a URL from Safari as being opened for 12 hours in one day last week. Today it's showing the Reddit app being open for 5 hours...while I was asleep. I don't even have the reddit app on my phone!

And no, screen time is not being collectively reported from all my iOS devices. This is just happening on my phone.

There is not one part of screen time that works for me on any of my devices. From the gathering of individual apps usage to sharing across my iPhone, max etc, hell to even all kit showing on other devices… It’s just yet something else that Apple have completely screwed or just can’t get to work. Pathetic state of affairs!

Hmm, haven't noticed anything like that.
Maybe it's because of background activity? I know it's kind of stupid, but maybe some apps or even Safari are having activity while in the background. Try to quit apps from the multitasking pane to check if anything changes

Have you at least been on the Reddit website?
I use Apollo for Reddit. There may have been an instance where some app’s in-app browser opened a reddit page, but I certainly wasn’t on it for 4 hours.

Isn’t it supposed to track apps that are on screen? For example if I listen to music for 3 hours when the app isn’t in foreground or the screen is off, it won’t show up here.

Yep, it should be as you described. I meant to check for some dodgy glitches (maybe the system starts to count time of process UID rather than onscreen time)

I've seen the same since IOS 15 came out. I can usually trigger the issue by activating the share sheet in an app. I thought it was just through Feedly, which is where I read most things, but it may have also happened recently when sharing a link from Safari to Instapaper.

I'm able to get it to stop counting the time when I force quit both the source and destination apps in the app switcher, though sometimes I need to quit all open apps.

I never would have noticed it if I didn't add the screen time widget, and I suspect most people probably don't see it because they're not looking at the screen time report daily.

Still seeing this issue with 15.4.1. Triggered via share sheet using a "copy link" action
