Not sure when this began, but the screen timeout on my SE running 11.2 seems to be 50% fast. If I set it to time out in one minute, it times out and goes to sleep EXACTLY 30 seconds after I stop interacting with the phone and lay it down. If I set it to 2 minutes, it times out and goes to sleep EXACTLY 60 seconds after I stop interacting with the phone. I haven't tried all timeout settings, but those two for sure are wrong.

Is this something new or have I just not noticed it before? Anyone else? Is there some other setting I might have missed that overrides the screen timeout setting? If this is a bug I can certainly live with it since the workaround is simple, harmless and obvious. Just didn't expect something like this from "Apple.... it just works".

Expected behavior IF you are on the home screen. When you leave your phone idle on your home screen, it will halve the auto lock time to save battery as the OS figures there’s no need to keep your home screen’s display on (since you aren’t reading or watching or playing anything.)

OK, got it. Thanks! Too bad they didn't include that important tidbit on the auto lock setting screen. I wonder how many people report that as a bug.

I’ve seen a few threads on this over the past few months. Nice feature imo. There are hundreds of little things like this that happen in iOS and most go unnoticed.

I agree, it is a nice feature. Just would have been nice to see it mentioned in the screen timeout setting so I didn't have to post here to find out what was going on ;) But then I'm an iOS newbie....
