i activate sleep via the lower left hot corner on my imac and it goes black. on the mini m4 it goes to the wallpaper and not black. how can i get the monitor attached to the mini to go black like the imac (w/o turning it off)? both have the same 15.1.1 system.

System Setting > Lock Screen > Turn Display off when inactive

Might be what you are looking for? It does have a timed setting, so setting bottom left Hot Corner to "Put Display to sleep" might be your preferred option.

Personally I do the above with the timed setting and have the "Black with only the Apple logo randomly on the page" screensaver until the times display goes off to sleep completely.

No, he’s looking for the Hot Corners settings….. I just went through the same thing this morning setting up my new M4, and I had to look it up to figure it out. It’s under the Desktop and Dock settings, at the bottom….. you can set the hot corners to do whatever you want. I just switched mine to turning the screen off rather than starting the screensaver.

YES, this is exactly what i was looking for. it's the one area i missed when checking. it beats wasting elec on the screensaver running and saves the monitor too. turning my monitor on & off is a pain in my case because you have to wait for the mini to activate the screen each time. thanks again!
