On my 16" MacBook Pro, the screen video recording feature saves about 100 MB per minute.

I have to records some lectures that I can't download any other way.

Is there a way to make a setting to save in a more compressed format (most of the videos are a few slides that are presented and hence very little changes)?

Otherwise I have to use handbrake on a number of 20 minute files.

Using handbrake compressed the file to 1/13 (one-thirteenth) the original size for an MP4 recording.

TIA

I am also interested in this. Didn't find any solution to the huge 20gb sizes of screen recordings of over 1.5 hours but to compress them afterwards, which takes a long time and makes my mbp 16" go full fan speed

OBS can record the screen or a single window and lets you customise the recording format.
