Since upgrading to 5.1 I've noticed that my screen will not obey the auto-lock setting (except for apparently the "never" option). In order to turn off the screen I have to do it manually (with external button on top of phone). Obviously this puts my charge at risk.

I'm surprised I've not seen others complain about this, so I think maybe I'm missing something.

Suggestions?

Wow this is weird. Are you absolutely sure you are not running any apps in the background that could be preventing your phone from going to sleep? Like an alarm clock app or something?

Following the advice of Sylon and Roy (from the IT Crowd), I turned it off and on again, and this problem resolved. Still not sure what was doing it, but... It might have been SnatchPro I was using to control a crippled mac from my iPhone that I was using to stream video to my TV.

Thanks Sylon:)

Yes. Check your apps. There are some that will keep your iDevice from sleeping while the app is active. Double press the home button and close all the apps showing. See if that makes a difference. At least you can narrow it down that way.
