Screenflow rendering MBA-B vs White Macbook 2.2

I ran a file to export which converts to a quicktime .mov file.

I expected these times but what's nice is that the fans on the MB kick in at full blast in 1 minute whereas the MBA full fans at 4 minutes full. Far less fan noise on the MBA! Looking at the temps, the MBA ran a full 11 degrees cooler the entire time. Fan noise is very important as I can now record voice from a usb mic without the fan noise being recorded as was the case with the Macbook.

Only downside is that the MBA takes longer (didn't time it) to cool down. Does anyone else have a longer than usual cool down time for the fans to go from full 6500 rpm to the norm 2500rpm?

Keep in mind the new laptops have near dangerous thermal profiles for the fans. They don't spin up until you're over ~90° C.

My MBA-B kicked in at ~70° Celsius.

It's about 60-64° C for the Santa Rosa MacBooks.

2x longer to cool down... but feels better

The initial fan 'delay' may explain why it takes longer to cool down.

I ran dual dev/nul on both to get it to start from 6500rpm down to 2500rpm

Cooling down to 4500rpm the MBA fans were still full blast though the temp was only 53° C compared to the Macbook's fans being silent when it came down to 53° C

But even at the highest temp of ~87° the MBA is far cooler to the touch (and only localized in the top left corner) than a plastic macbook or a lap scolding MBP. The MBA just makes for a better "laptop".

The new Aluminium models are cooler to the touch. I don't see a reason to replace my MacBook though. When did it stop working.

I'm keeping my macbook too as it's served me well hooked up to my 24", the MBA (if I decide to live with the screen dithering) will be the one that goes with me and offshoot my rendering to the macbook via remote desktop.

The macbook fans can go crazy for all I care as long as I'm not home having to listen to it.

I can say the same. I encoded 6 seasons of Stargate SG-1 on my MacBook.
