Hello,

I'm fairly sure there is, but if so, I just can't locate how to do the following. Old age problem.

I use the Mac Screensaver that pulls up images from a file. Running Monterray.
Works fine.

But the cycling time is only about a second or two.
Would like to enjoy the images a bit more before it goes automatically to the next one.

Any way of changing the setting for the Screensaver to have it cycle perhaps one image
ever 10 seconds ?

Thanks,
Bob

Hello,

Thanks for help with this. Appreciated. Running Monterray.

Your image is for the Desktop.

I want to change the image changing time for the "Screen Saver"

There does not seem to be any way of doing this for the Screen Saver. Only for the Desktop.
Is there ?

Regards,
Bob

🤔 You are correct, Screensaver Options is not available for the screensavers that allow photos as a source.

If you’re willing to put in a little extra time and effort:

Some up-to-date and suggested instructions:

1. Get BBEdit (formally TextWranger)
2. Go to Finder > Go (menu) > Go to Folder… > paste the path below into the text input box then press Enter:
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Slideshows.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Content
—Optional-- Copy then paste EffectDescriptions.plist into a different folder (e.g., Desktop) to create a temporary backup file
3. Right click EffectDescriptions.plist > Open With > BBEdit
4. Scroll down until you see <key>JustASlide</key>
5. Scroll further into the indented lines until you see <key>mainDuration</key> followed by <integer>3</integer>
— JustASlide should be on line 117 and the value you want to change should be in line 139, at least is so for me.
6. Change the 3 to a higher number (e.g., 15)
— You may need to Unlock the file to make changes
7. Save the file
8. Test the screensaver

Quick thanks for taking the time to help me out with this.
Very appreciated.

Hi

Take a look at Artsaver.
Free, really well done screenSaver, with lots of options.

Think you'll like it.

I tried to update my file as above and everything proceeded as expected, but when saving the file I got "Permission denied (application error code: 100013)" Any ideas on what steps I missed? The CNet link is no good.

Y-e-a-h… 🤔

I wasn’t thinking about how old the article is and the extra security of more modern/recent macOS versions (as well as Apple Silicon). More specifically:

Most importantly:

Apple said:
In macOS 11 or later, the system volume is captured in a snapshot. The operating system boots from a snapshot of the system volume, not just from a read-only mount of the mutable system volume.

Put simply, I’m not sure the modifications like the one I linked to are even/ever possible.

My bad.
