I have a 2014 5k imac with image retention in spades. It is, of course. more noticeable along the top-- menubar, and along the sides (the dock, especially).
If a screensaver were to be of any use, it would concentrate the animation in these border areas-- which many screensavers don't do-- an animation in the center of the screen "exercises" the wrong pixels.

So-- are there any screensavers with motion at the edges? Ariel works, to some extent, but it keeps the computer awake for hours on end.

I've never heard of this happening to a LCD in my life. I used a $150 LCD monitor for over a decade (2007-2018) and there was absolutely nothing burned into it. There was a dead pixel and the whole thing eventually died, but never any image retention.

This makes me not want to buy an iMac.
