Howdy all,
all i want to know is how to do a screenshot to a tiff image without export or import or anythin, just hit cmd-shift-3 and make an image rather than a pdf, if that is possible, what i really hope.

thx.

You could pick up Snapz Pro X from Ambrosia Software. It's a great screen capture utility that can do lots more (Quicktime movie capture, DVD capture, etc.). If all you want is a .tiff, I've heard that the Grab utility that comes with Mac OS X does this by default. I haven't tried it, though.

snapz pro sucks for movies. and if the screenshot only needs to be in tiff format, just use Grab. there's no point in paying $30 for Snapz Pro when what you need comes with the OS.

actually all i want is that when i press cmd-shift-3 it makes a tiff and not, as at the moment a tiff. is that possible ? I certainly can use grab, but that is not really practical, as sometimes i have to make screenshots immediatly, and if grab is in the dock and i have to open it, click where and what i want, it s not really useful.
I don t want to export the images of the pdf, the loss in quality is just to big.
;-)

As far as I know, you could only change the file type in OS X 10.1 and before. OS X 10.2 uses Quartz for that operation, and can only capture in PDF. Now one thing that might help is adding ctrl to your keystroke, which captures to the clipboard instead of a file, as in:

cmd-ctrl-shift-3

Then paste into whatever app you want.

get snapz, its shareware and you can select what format and still use your key combination.

Or you could open the pdf in Preview and export it to tiff. There might be some quality loss if you do this though.
