just got my new SR MBP about 5 minutes ago. 2.4ghz, 17" hi res, 160gb 7200rpm harddrive, 4 gigs of memory. discovered in the back before opening up the screen, that there was a small half cm screw in the vent. half on side of the screw is painted blue, and looks like it fits with a star shaped screwdriver.

thoughts?

also, upon starting up, (the screen is very nice) the mac OSX intro video stuttered for quite a bit.

any additional thoughts?
thanks for the help

The two that I've seen have stuttered during the initial boot even once you're to the desktop. After rebooting it went away for good. Maybe just stuff it does on the first run...?

bit odd, im sure my core duo that i got last year didnt stutter.
ah well. so long as it can do my audio work well enough im happy. (and so long as nothing else falls off)

A lot of people have mentioned that optimised drivers for the Nvidia chipset haven't been released yet which probably explains the lag with Dasboard/Expose and now with the initial video stuttering. A software update must definitely be on its way...

I guess I wouldn't worry about the screw. (though that is very unusual!)

As for the intro video stuttering - never seen that before :( Can't be good! FWIW, mine played flawlessly (and there's also no lag in Dashboard/Exposé, and WoW plays amazingly, so my drivers would appear to be 'fine').

All of the new MBPS have stuttering of their intro videos....while I haven't heard anything about an optimized driver yet, perhaps it is true that an update is on the way.....
