I recently bought a Mac Pro 5,1 and I'm loving it. I've made a number of modifications, including the addition of a Bluetooth 4.2 card replacing the built-in card.

Unfortunately, my Bluetooth reception wasn't what it could be, so I bought an antenna wire extension that adds an external antenna port to the PCI panel.

That antenna attachment/extension uses the PCI plate, but doesn't have a card attached.

Unfortunately, the plate is awfully loose; the first time I tried to install the antenna, it just popped loose the plate. I finally got it seated and the Port Access Cover tightly secured, but the plate still feels wiggly. (It feels like regular PCI card are using the card itself to brace itself.) It's stable for now, but I fear that it might pop loose if I'm not careful.

My question is: Is there a screw I can use that someone can recommend that's flat enough to lie below the Port Access Cover? Or, barring that, is there another better way to secure that plate to the chassis and otherwise make the rest of the ports secure and accessible?

When you say port access cover, I assume you mean the PCIe retention bracket.

If so, just make a cardboard shim on top of the part that loose PCIe Slot bracket. The retention bracket will then tighten up on this spot. I’ve had to do that before. You may want to tape the shim on there so it won’t fall off when removing the retention bracket to service other PCIe devices.

Yes, sorry.

Ah-ha! I hadn't thought to just shim it and let the retention bracket do the job.

I had an adhesive felt pad lying around and I put that on the loose bracket, then put it all back together. It worked great. Thanks for your help!
