Natural scroll direction now does the other direction. With mouse or trackpad, it's the exact opposite. Probably a bug.

It's really weird. At the moment on my M1 Max MBP, when I select natural direction, it's the exact opposite. I'm on trackpad preferences, the video shows the direction and it's doing the exact opposite.

you're sure you're not using your MBP upside down? 🤔 seriously... at least you can switch it. but odd, definitely.

I reinstalled 12.1 from scratch. Same thing. It's broken.

I'd log a support ticket with Apple.

It's possible that it's either a software bug, or there's something whacky going on with the NVRAM in your specific machine that they can help you reset via some procedure.

Maybe run through diagnostics mode as per:

Scrolling on my mx master 3 stops working entirely after leaving my m1 max idle with the lid closed for "a bit" (after it sleeps?)

Restarting fixes it temporarily. Really weird!

Edit: I normally use mos and cursorsense + steermouse. not sure if maybe something changed with 12.1 that will require and update for any or all of them

I am using steermouse, maybe it's about that I don't know. But steermouse should not effect touchpad behaviour. It only controls my mouse.

My main system is Monterey 12.1 and I also run Mojave for one 32 bit app through Parallels Desktop. It is pretty annoying that the Logitech M720 scrolls in the opposite direction in Mojave although mouse scrolling was set to natural in both Monterey and Mojave ... Another Microsoft mouse does not do that...

Just share some experience and I haven't found a solution for this mouse misbehavior...
