Not sure if this is a bug or done on purpose, but the arrows to scroll through emails which are open and being read have moved from an "up and down" to "side to side". While I don't necessarily see an issue with this, the arrows seem counterintuitive.

An arrow to the left moves you to an email received previous to the email you are currently viewing. Gmail does this the other way which makes sense.

Anyone else not so happy with this?

Why is this an issue? Left for Previous and right for Next makes more sense than up and down. You don't see blu-ray remotes have up for fastforward and down for rewind.

Some of you must just love to complain about anything. So much you all go and scour around for something as dumb as this.

Gmail does it the opposite, someone agrees with me. I'm not scouring, I use the phone regularly and this was literally the only thing that bothered me.

Up and down would make more sense (at least to me) considering emails are laid out vertically. I made this post to see if that was my own opinion, so relax with the dismissiveness....

Gmail on the web does left and right arrows for the pages. There are no up and down arrows in gmail to switch between messages.

The gmail iOS app uses left and right swipe gestures to switch between emails too; not up and down.

Apple adjusted to the common use email services use so it's the same experience.

Common sense/use for our brains is forward is forward/right arrow and back is back/left arrow (like the fast forward and rewind example); not up is back and down forward. Same as a web browser too.

left/right arrows universally to me means previous/next (browsers, music players, dvd players etc).
up/down arrows make sense in an e-mail summary screen as e-mails are stacked vertically but in the reading pane the down arrow would indicate scrolling down (especially if it's a long thread).
