Scrolling lags randomly in Firefox under 10.12. This is new with 10.12. Often right after loading a page but not always.

What weirdo 10.12 feature is at play for this one? Or is there a non-compatibility between Firefox and OSX now? It feels like the initial thing that loads is maybe just an image and the scroll bard aren't 'active' yet or somesuch?

I've used Firefox for many years now. I recall moving from Safari to Firefox originally because they had more multitouch support early on. (Even though Apple made the trackpad in question...) I tried Chrome a while ago and fired it over the hidden/buried "software updater" app that calls home every 20 minutes.

What's up with this? Browser conflict or 10.12 just not ready for prime time yet?

I figured out the big force touch bug a bit ago. This is the only other thing performance-wise that is a regression from previous OSX installs. (There are those iCloud handling apps that like to call home constantly but that's another story.)

SOLVED

I found this tip for Firefox:

about:config

network.http.pipelining = true
network.http.pipelining.ssl = true

I haven't dug into the ins and outs of what's going on here but it cured the issue completely. Sierra must have changed something that Firefox was working with.

Might have spoke too soon?
The above cured it 90% but this still crops up here and there.

Maybe it's time to not only install 10.13 but to give Safari another go after all these years.

Safari 11 in 10.13 can be installed in 10.12, so no need to upgrade to 10.13 just to try out the new Safari.

However, 10.13 does include Metal 2, which provides some interface speedups in the OS. I don't know how that applies to Safari though, if at all.
