My question is related to audio production requirements - there is nothing like a 10,000/15,000 rpm SCSI drive to handle multiple audio tracks with plug-ins, etc. However, this is not an option for portables.

If I connect my external SCSI drive via a scsi-to-firewire adapter.. to my firewire port.. will the performance be affected? For audio, its the seek time of the drive that counts .. someone correct me if I am wrong.

Such a solution would be great, as it would offer the speed of a SCSI drive but the convenience of a portable workstation. Any comments?

transfer speeds will be that of firewire 400Mb/s i beleve is the best you will get. everything else dipends on the convertor. scsi data rate is like 320Mb/s if its a SCSI320 drive so you would be able to get full SCSI speeds over firewire :D
In practice tho i dunno
