Is there any way to get out of the connect to iTunes/restore mode for SE?

I have an iPhone SE on iOS 11 that hung when trying to make the 11.2 update. It would not come out of the apple screen so I connected to iTunes to try and complete the update. iTunes tried the update and after getting a good ways through said there is an error and I have to restore. I did not restore and cancelled as I do not yet want to restore in case I can get some data back.

The last iCloud backup was a week ago so not a huge loss except that photos and videos have not uploaded to iCloud for a month for some reason. I don't know why as I have iCloud enabled for photos and videos but it has not uploaded photos and videos for nearly 4 weeks even though a phone backup was completed a week ago.

I am trying some 3rd party apps like Dr Fone and Ease.us to try and at least get the media off before a restore but they are not recognizing the phone. I do not want to restore until I exhaust all options as I'm hopeful the videos can still be recovered.

Any thoughts on how to get out of recovery/restore or alternatives to get the media off the phone?

Many thanks!

You need to try that update again use a different computer if needed but once it’s stuck in that mode there is no way to get it out
