Seagate 7200 Rpm Momentus on Macbook question.

Hey all. I just installed and using the new 160Gb Momentus 7200 RPM on my Macbook (white, last rev.). There is a bank of 4 pins with a jumper on it. Not much is out there on the net including the company site of what these pins do. One source said to remove it to get full throughput. I left it at factory setting. Could someone explain if this is ideal or am I missing out some speed?

Honestly I can't tell a difference yet with speed vs 5400 rpm at the moment. I don't know if its a setting thing with the jumper, or I'm just not paying close enough attention to the difference.

Usually on the desktop Seagates the jumper restricts the SATA throughput to 1.5Gbps instead of 3Gbps. To be honest, I really don't think you'll experience any difference - but it wouldn't have hurt to remove the jumper.

There isn't a dramatic difference between the speeds of the drives, but it is there.

The Momentus 7200.2 160GB drive is the fastest drive on the market.

The jumper is, as the above poster said, probably for SATA 3Gbps mode. Since the chipset doesn't support it (as far as I know) it's not going to really make a difference. Your hard drive is the only device on the SATA link anyway, and it's not going to read above 1.5Gbps so SATA 3 isn't going to help :/

Care to sum up your experience with it?
I'm thinking of buying one myself for my macbook, but am a little unsure about the extra heat/noise it would generate due to it being 7200 rpm..
