So, it's time for me to upgrade my HDD. My current 250GB backup drive only has ~1.2GB free. I'm thinking of getting the 750GB from Seagate.

Will it work in the Quad G5? No problems when waking from sleep as I've heard from some others?

I've heard a couple other users talk about a 1TB (1,000GB) HDD coming some time; maybe late this year or next year. Should I wait or just go ahead and buy it for $400?

If you need the space now, get it now. No point in struggling without the space you need and waiting for something that may or may not be coming soon at all...

Why not just throw in an extra 300GB drive for $90?

IMHO, buying top-of-the-line 3.5" drives is only a good idea if you need to maximize your array of space (i.e. you need to upgrade from 4x 250 gb drives to 4x 750gb drives). If youv'e got free drive slots open, just add a drive.

750GB drives are going to drop substantially in price once some competition is out, and even more when the 1TB drives come to market.

500GB drives were around $400 for the first few months after they were released... you can grab them for under $200 now.

It's going to replace my 250GB that's with my Raptor 74GB in my Quad. If the Quad had more slots I'd probably just add another 250GB or something, but I need to replace one.

And 300GB is only 50GB extra from my 250GB that's already free.

I'll probably just get the 750GB now and sell the 250GB so I can have ~450GB free with the new one.

Added the 750 to my QUAD a few days after they were released and love it, BIG - FAST - COOL - QUIET - what more could I want:D
