Anyone using this? http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/home_entertainment/freeagent_theater_plus/

If so, does it really work well with HFS+ formatted drives? Any problems with it?

Thinking about getting one instead of an Apple TV.

I normally don't post but thought I would give you my thought on the device. I have had it for about 3 months now (replaced an  TV) and the device is great. I have a FreeAgent GO drive that is formatted HFS+ and it has played everything I have thrown at it. From mkvs that are 16+ GBs in size to small avi files.

The interface is a little clunky but once you get passed that it is a great little device. It will even read NAS devices if you connect it to your network.

Thanks...think I may pick this up tomorrow along with a FreeAgent GO. I'd like the Apple TV, it's just...this plays so many more formats, I won't have to hack it to do what I want it to, won't have to transcode everything, etc.

My problem with the WDTV which I was also considering is 1) no dvd menus and 2) can't slide your storage in and make it look cool like you can with this.
