Has anyone tried this new drive yet? I will probably put this in my MacMini, so...

1)How does this drive compares in acoustics and heat dissipation with the current MacMini drive? Will it be similar, or should I be worried about the seagate hybrid being hotter and probably not a good idea to put in the MacMini? (I happen to have the mid-2010 model)

I have to admit Im more worried about the acoustics, as Im used to my Mac being tottally silent, the seagate is a 7200RPM drive.

I can't speak for that particular drive, but the 7200RPM Seagate Momentus (non XT) in my MacBook Pro is extremely quiet and heat is a non issue.

I'm interested in this drive too... would be nice to have the extra space. I wonder if there are any noticeable speed improvements over the older Momentus XT drives.

Well, it does have 4GB more SSD in it, so I believe this pretty much hold all your applications, OS, itunes songs, and frequently acessed documents

Im hoping this drive is silent, will probably have to get and see

Seagate says they tweaked the algorithms for what gets put on the flash. They also claim that the flash itself is faster.

The new 750GB second gen version has double the SSD size, 8GB of single cell memory. Plus its SATA3 now instead of SATA2. Should be a good performer. I have the older 500GB version in all of my machines.

I use a 500 GB Seagate Momentus XT on a black Macbook and it's very quiet but this is very subjective.

I have noticed no difference with the original HDD (about sound, about speed obviusly yes)
