Houston (duh)
I have a new iMac (I'm new to mac in general), and love it! I got the 24" with the 2.8 and 320 GB HD.

I just bought a 1 TB Firewire 800 Western Digital drive to use for Time Machine, and I had also planned on using it to store videos that I'll be doing in iMovie and FCE.

My question is this...

For a 320GB drive, how large will the Time Machine space get?

I was planning on partitioning the drive into 400 GB for Time Machine and using the remaining space for vid storage.

Does this sound reasonable?

How much space is needed for my 320 drive?

The sad thing that I realized while typing is that I'm not backing up my vids...

I guess I'll get a 2nd drive to do that! haha. You have to have backups for your backups these days.

Anyway, answers are appreciated and if you have suggestions based on experience that may change my "strategery", let me know.

TIA!

PS. I freakin' love the new Mac. Some things are disappointing like the suckiness of iMovie '08, but in general it RULES. And daaaaaaammmmmmn the screen is beautiful. I can finally truly see the quality of pics I'm getting from my Nikon DSLR compared to our sony and canon point and shoot digital pocket cams.
