I didn't see it mentioned but did Apple by chance make the search bar any wider? It's cumbersome using the IMO narrow search bar especially when you have big fingers. I realize Apple isn't into a lot customization but even the option to make it wider for us fat fingers would be nice.
That's one thing I like about the plus keyboard, very few mis-hits. 1/16-1/8" would make a world of difference. Cheers.

I'm assuming by wider you mean taller. In that case, no they did not. They are continuing to use the same textfield height from iOS 9. I can understand how frustrating that can be for someone with larger fingers to accurately hit the bar, but Apple's design team seems to disagree. If I were to change it without altering the visual look, I would make the hit box larger on the search bar extend past the bounds of the search bar so that the design team and end users would be satisfied, but there's probably many other considerations I haven't looked at that would prevent that solution.

If you meant width, I have no idea how much it changed if it did, but I also fail to see how width changes would make the bar harder to hit as the bar is already much wider than a finger xD

Let me rephrase it to height, it has the same height as the tiny 3.5" screens did. They're not keeping up with the evolution of bigger screens. I've got this massive 5.5" screen and this tiny search bar, it's the one thing I use more than anything. To give a example look at Android search bar it has adequate size. The fact the search bar also hides itself is more reason to make it higher and easily accessible.
