Just noticed an app on Cydia named Search that claims to support searching email. I tend to try stuff a bit later after folks have started to provide feedback, but I may just have to jump on this one and give it a spin. I get tons of email at work and my only real problem with my iPhone is an inability to search my inbox...got my fingers crossed this could be the ticket.

I already tried it and it works pretty good. It doesn't have any filters so you can't search by sender, date, or other formats. This basically searches the text you enter against email, SMS, Web, notes. I don't use the notes because it can't two-way sync with outlook so I use Evernote but the email search is great. I am an IT Manager for a financial institution and not having a search function was a real drag.

I was impressed at how quickly it returns search results... It's instantaneous. Awesome app for sure.

i dunno it doesnt seem to fully search through your sms database? i can enter something to search for but i know for a fact its not finding every match at all.

It'll only search out of your 50 or whatever downloaded emails though right? I can't see how it would do anything other than that.

For me it seems to only be searching through email subjects. I can't get emails to come up by sender or text in the message.

After trying to open the app after installing I get "The application 'Search' cannot be opened". Any particular reason for this? Are there required apps for it to run?

I've given it a spin...kinda works for me. The problem I'm having is that even though it finds the messages I'm looking for, in some instances it doesn't actually display "the body" of the message. I can see the to/from info, but the message itself doesn't display.

I can't determine under which circumstances it fails to display the message. If that gets fixed this will be a winner.

Finally a Search

For those of you who have not found it, like me (until today), you can now search your Exchange Inbox on the iPhone natively. see attachment.
