Over the past week or so, my iPhone has started having these period of time when it can't seem to connect to any network.

I get the "Searching...." icon up in the upper left hand corner and it might do that for 5-10 minutes, then all the sudden everything starts working again.

For a while, I blamed this on the recent slew of damaging hail storms that we had in the Oklahoma City area. But I am concerned that this might be something more.

Is anyone else having this issue?

For the record- this is a 32 GB iPhone 3Gs and I am using it on AT&T's network in the greater Oklahoma City, Oklahoma area.

That happens to me from time to time using the 3GS on the Rogers wireless 3G network in Calgary, Canada.

I find the quickest fix is to turn on airplane mode and then turn it back off. It forces it to rediscover and reconnect to the network.

I'm not sure why it happens though...
