Second Hard Drive Mounting Bracket (B&W G3)

I'm trying to add another IDE hard drive to my Rev. 2 (Yay!) PowerMac G3 B&W. What perplexes me about the drive mount above the original master drive is that its wider than the drive I'm trying to add. Just how DO you install the second drive anyways? The Apple manuals aren't helping either.

You'll notice that one side of the drive bracket has two long metal tabs that are designed to bend towards the drive. Attach the drive to the other side first, then bend the metal tabs towards the drive and tighten the screws.

I'm contemplating trying to wedge a good few drives into my B+W (rev 1) media server

I've just brought an 8 drive SATA card for it...

the G3 came with a CD and a zip drive, so I might take these out. I think you can purchase a cage that lets you fit 3 drives into 2 bays.

Two (possibly 3 with some bodging) drives go on the bottom of the chassis.

If I take out the case speaker, and bolt some scrap metal onto the bottom of the existing 5.25 inch bays I could maybe fit another couple drives in.

That's a grand total of about 7 drives.

Hope the power unit can take it.

Might have to figure out how to use the staggered spinup on my new card ( a Rocketraid 2220, cost 3 times what I paid for the G3 (!) but is PCI-X compatiable so should last me a good few computers into the future.)

What's the max drives anyone's fitted into a G3?

Which side? Bend those unattached tabs on the left? I feel odd bending a computer component to get it to work... Thanks to http://www.xlr8yourmac.com

Notice the picture...firmly screw the drive onto the side circled in blue. Then bend the two tabs circled in red towards the drive, and screw in firmly.

Ok I get it. I bent them and it didn't seem so bad.
