Hey folks.

I had a 24" iMac that died on me three times, it wouldn't boot and it gave me three beeps. Apple kindly replaced it with a 27" i3 and just today I got the same problem....how unlucky am i? I will ring them tomorrow and see what they say. anyone else had this problem? Am at a stage where I can ask for a refund and maybe invest in a different machine ? i doubt this but I could ask.

thanks folks

Very unlucky actually, but I would definitely call Apple. If I remember correctly three beeps usually refers to RAM.

Are you using third party ram? If you moved your ram from the old machine to the new one, you moved your problem.

Yep, three beeps means faulty RAM. Apple will likely replace the RAM and it might work.

You can't move the RAM from the 24" as it's DDR2 to the 27" as that is DDR3.:D

You've just had very very very bad luck, but this will stop eventually, right?

Just go back and get a replacement or new ram, if that doesn't work, then I'm speechless.

Thanks guys, no its not third ram. I will ring tomorrow, I just walked into the house.

Maybe Apple's own RAM is faulty. Try different sticks. If that fails do call Apple.

However, if you feel much more confortable calling Apple do so, an iMac is not a cheap computer to break this easily.
