I apologise for the post has gone far enough now.
I meant it to help people but it seems to have just caused conflict.
I am a genuine student just trying to let other people in the same situation know.

This is nothing new, the NUS site links you there when you log in. They are the Higher Education prices and are the same through the UK HE store, including the warranty. :)

Can you still cancel your order or is it already done?

It's already done, and due for delivery tomorrow

I think I may write a friendly letter explaining my situation when I mail in my 'save big on an iPod' rebate form.

NUS this year launched a 'paid for discount card' called NUS Extra. I was privvy to a lot of the information surrounding the whole thing last year. Basically NUS' policy was to only accept 'enhanced' discounts onto the new card.

Now prior to this year NUS and Apple had a strategic agreement whereby the HE discount Apple offered was peddled by NUS in their ad bumph and online - hence the email links sent out by NUS to students pointing them to the Apple store for education. However, under the new policy (which the NUS have to follow due to their democratic process as a Union) for Apple's inclusion on the Extra card they should in theory be offering an additional discount offer over and above the standard HE discount to Extra Card holders.

I put all this to NUS Services Ltd (who administrate the card) but never recieved a satisfactory reply. The cards themselves are only just getting into circulation now - the vast majority being delivered to customers this week either from their parent Students' Unions' or direct to their home addresses.

Now in the case of the Amazon 5% Extra discount it will require the student to enter a secure site and register their inividual card code in order to recieve the discount. Supposedly this was going to be the case with all the big online discounts on the card. I can only assume that Apple will have a similar set up rolled out at some point. The website linked above has been around for a while - there is a similar one for the National Union of Journalists. If NUS do what they are mandated to do and have secured an enhanced Apple discount it should manifest itself soon, unless Apple have simply updated the discount percentage on the existing NUS mini site.

This is untrue. The NUS prices are slightly less than the highest level of HE discount you can get online.

To the OP. What are you trying to achieve posting this here. This offer is EXCLUSIVE to not just students, but students who attend a university affiliated with NUS. The fact that Apple doesn't do checking up on the cards oor require details of your student status is a gift in making our purchases that little bit simpler,

There is NO need for you to post a direct link here on the forums for something which, for anyone who is supposed to know about it, will readily be able to access it.

I have been purchasing stuff from Apple NUS for over 2 years now and I would be very disappointed if Apple were to cease this amazing package because of people like you advocating its unauthorised use.

I request this thread be locked and the OP's post moderated to block the URL. If not, I will contact Apple with details of this link and make sure they know its circulating online for ANYONE to use.

Get a grip people.

but i think people will want to here about the NUS discount,,, i am not currently at university quite yet so it is good chance to get it before i go which is good as i need it desperatly..

I really do not think there is need for such aggrension i am mearly trying to be helpful to the other users i would be dissapointed for this to be removed.

Apple do there checks frequently im sure, and thats up to them i am not encouraging anyone to misuse this discount.

these discount sites have been public domain for a long time...even though a lot of people dont know about them, apple should really get them secured, like the Royal Mail version of the store.

im sure if you reported it to them, they would do nothing more than secure it, not remove it. it is afterall apple's fault that anyone can purchase from it, not yours.

If you are not at University or a HEI that is affiliated with NUS (even if this is only days/weeks/months away) you shouldn't be using that link. End of.

Whether people want to hear about the NUS discount or not is irrelevant. Like I said in my other post, those who should know about it, DO know about it (if they possess the intelligence to check their online site). Either way, it is not your job to publicise something which is meant for a select group.

I still maintain the link should be removed.
