You know, that thing that grabs 2FA codes from text messages and presents them as an auto-fill option for the relevant field in Safari.

It works well for me on my phone (iOS 13.2) but it doesn't work, and never has, on my Macbook running Catalina. I don't think it worked for me in Mojave either, but I can't remember when I first tried. I've never known it work on my laptop.

I have text message forwarding on and working - the SMS gets forwarded to my laptop and the new message notification slides in showing the code, but I have to cut&paste it like a peasant.

What can I check? Any settings that need to be made?

This will provide no help to you, apologies, but I will say that I had never, ever, seen it in Mojave. As part of the move to Catalina, I decided to completely wipe my system and start fresh. I now see the autofill popup as expected.

Reviews and threads on e.g. reddit are full of people who are happily using it. I don't want to do a clean install just for this ... but the fact it does work for you means it's worth me having a play around, trying to get it to work.

I'm going to annoy my bank continually pretending to log in to get the 2FA text :)

I did an upgrade, it worked on Mojave and it works on Catalina. Can't say I've done anything special to make it work.

Did you check your log files to see what is happening?

I wish I could be of more help. It's somewhat funny, I didn't even know it had already been part Mojave until I read your post! :D Good luck!

No. My first port of call was to post here and moan. Then I logged a Feedback as I'm on Catalina beta (despite the fact it doesn't seem to be beta related). My final step was to actually do something like look at logs, check settings etc, :)

Can confirm that this is the proper fault diagnostic route to take. Also can confirm 2FA message auto fill has worked for me on Mojave and continues to do so on Catalina. Sorry, I know that doesn't really help you find the root of the problem.

Thanks. The logs didn't show anything useful unfortunately. Plus, Safari (and Mail which I always have running) seem to continually write to the logs with various warnings, making it hard to focus on what I was looking for.
