anyone with a mac dvd, or anyone who knows 'command-R' can get into a mac, and change the password...and access that computer.

up thru 10.7, i used a firmware password on my macs. if you booted up without holding the Option key...you'd get a flashing question mark. this no longer works on my new mac, in ML.

is there a 10.8 equivalent to a firmware password? i miss that extra security...

Do a command-r boot to recovery and in the utility menu you will see the option to set an EFI boot password like you want.

it's still listed as a firmware password. but i get it...if someone DOES try to boot from a dvd, or command-R...they STILL need a password to get in.

different from my previous os x experience, but useful. thanx!
