Secure WiFi Problem

I have a WiFi as part of my home network that I have secured/password protected. I was easily able to connect to the home network after entering my password. Now recently when I come back home, my phone, and this happened with my wife's too, prompts for the password. I enter it and it doesn't connect saying the password is wrong. The first time this happened I had to reboot the WiFi router, then re-enter the password and it connected. Now I get home today and the problem has occurred again. No settings on the phone seem to apply here, but was wondering if the router doesn't like the phone. It's an older LinkSys 4 port 801.11b router.

Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

Does your network have a unique name or is it a factory one, such as "linksys" or 2Wire..." etc..... Thinking maybe you are picking up another network of the same name?

Step 1 of 1: Buy a new router. Routers aren't designed to last that long anyway, and besides ... 802.11b has been deprecated two times over thus far. iPhone doesn't have 802.11n, so no need to get that.

If you can afford an iPhone, you can afford a $40 Linksys

i had a similar problem when i first set up my iphone. it kept saying i had the wrong password.

i resolved it this way: instead of tapping on my network in the WIFI screen, i tapped on "Other.."

From there i entered the SSID, password and type of network security.

it has worked 100% since then.

Yes, I have call service and when it works it switches very easily from Edge to Wifi.

I renamed my router, so I know I am picking up mine.

I was thinking the same thing and may be what I'll end up doing.

Did you delete/remove the first one that was setup first? I will give this a try and see what happens.

i've had the same issue.. where would i find the SSID, password and type of network security? I'm not that familiar with any of the wi-fi stuff..

What security feature are you using? My Wifi at home works great with a WPA password. But at work using a WEP system, I have a heck of a time connecting and staying connected.

The SSID is the name assigned to the wireless router. You will need to either capture when you see it prompted and then manually re-enter it or logon to your wireless router's IP address and get the information off of the setup page.

On the wireless setup page you'll see what type of security is being used.

The password is also found on the wireless router's setup page.

I checked and mine only supports WEP. I think my router is having problems with the WEP key. I'll play with resetting it to see what happens.
